Finale in the Village

The final numbers are in and a total of 803,563 people gave their lives to Christ. To put that into perspective, only 40,000 people live in the village where we had the crusade. Many people walked for days to come. The hunger for a real relationship with God is unquenchable here.
We now move onto India where we are told to expect to see even more desperate poverty. We will be joined there by Evangelist Rob Welch and our dear friend and former Pastor Randy Barr. Please continue to lift us all up in prayer. We will not have anywhere near the support team that we had in Africa with Cfan.
We finally have full internet access so Karman is going to send a bunch of photos, including a shot of 5 adults on a motorcycle. Not the record but it gives you an idea what the roads in Nigeria look like.Thank you again for your prayers.

Completely Amazing
Last night was completely amazing. The weather was cool (80) and 300,000 people came out to the crusade. Nothing even remotely like this has ever happened here. It is the event that these people will remember for a life time. We have really fallen in love with the Nigerian people. I wish you could behere to meet them. They are warm and the most genuine people I have met. When they are excited they show it. When they don't like something, they don't pretend. It is incredibly refreshing.
Tonight is the final night of the crusade. We are expecting the largest crowd yet. Hundreds of thousands have already come to Christ and we have seen with our own eyes the most amazing miracles. This is the book of Acts being lived out in 2009. No one could remain a skeptic here, it is just too powerful. Karman and I get to sit on the front row of the stage so we see everything close up.
I will be preaching my final message tonight. Your prayers have been so powerful I can honestly say last night I felt more ease speaking to the enormous crowd, than I normally feel speaking in my own Church. What a lesson I am learning again about the power of prayer.
We had lunch today with one the team members that has been with Cfan the longest. He is a Christian "Indian Jones" with stories that Spielberg couldn't dream up. Captured by rebels, imprisoned, stoned, tear gassed, bombed, shot at, stuck in the middle of war zones, kidnapped, and plane crashes. You cannot believe this guy. I will tell his stories when I get home. The way that God has protected this team is awesome.
Tomorrow we depart for Lagos and then Dubai and we don't travel to India until next weekend. Please continue to pray for us. I will take the microphone about noon your time today. I look forward to giving you another good report.

Day Three- Dana Speaks for the First Time

Expectations have grown over the last 2 days and people are drawing on God for even more miracles. At one point a chorus broke out spontaneously and was picked up by the rest of the crowd... Hallelujahs were ringing out from the largest choir we have ever heard!
Tonight’s Gospel Crusade was another glorious highlight: 225,000 people attended in this highly rural “village-setup”. Daniel Kolenda was the main preacher and he ministered with authority. Many souls got saved, filling up the barns of God. When the prayer for the sick rung out, many wonderful miracles happened.
A girl, deaf and dumb for 20 years heard and spoke clearly. Her brother saw her giving the testimony and ran onto the platform to embrace her and they rejoiced together (see photos). Another girl, crippled for years was brought to the meeting from the hospital. She told her mother to take her to the Gospel meeting where she believed Jesus would heal her. During the prayer the power of God came on her and she began to walk. There was no end to the miracles that continued to take place...even until the very last moment of the meeting.

First Note from Karman!
Hey! Karman here. Up front I want to admit that trips like this produce a whole lot of emotions in me - thoughts & feelings ranging from truly wonderful through truly terrible. However, when hanging out with Nigerians in Isoko Land, you can't help but notice their JOY.
Despite the horrible poverty all around, they generally have sunny dispositions. That much might be cultural. But when Jesus becomes their source of joy, oh man look out! During praise & worship times the crusade stage becomes a crazy blur of color & movement.
We see dignified bishops in fancy robes along with leaders of denominations and very large churches... Dancing with the joy & abandon of children!! I'm talkin' smiling, giggling, booty wigglin' dancing! It doesn't look holy, it looks like a wedding (but better than a white wedding). Same goes for the enthusiastic crowd. The Joy of God's presence, joy of salvation is so simple and uncomplicated. It's here in the moment. It's a gift with a message for me: Joy from Above Is!!! It just is.

Day Two Update

Tonight again the Gospel was powerfully proclaimed, with masses of people receiving Jesus as their personal Savior. Have a look at tonight’s crowd-picture. The Bible presents the gospel as the wisdom of God, the only saving truth. No man made it up, just as no man invented water. No philosopher ever conceived equal hope. Preaching the Gospel releases the saving power of God. Those who are dead in trespasses and sins hear it and are raised to new life – glory to God!
After the prayer for the sick numerous miracles happened. One young man, mute for 26 years suddenly discovered he could speak. A mad woman was instantly healed and testified with astounding clarity of mind. Many cripples were also healed including the one in the attached picture who fell in a well and broke his leg 2 years ago. Since that time he had been unable to walk until Jesus healed him tonight. Like the lame man in Acts 3:8 he went walking and leaping and praising God.
When looking at these dear people, compassion grips us. Compassion must be preached with compassion and love with love – “sincere love,” as set out in the evangelists’ charter in 2 Corinthians 6.
If there is such a place as the middle of nowhere, we have found it. Here in the Delta region of Nigeria there is little but shacks and jungle. Andyet, 180,000 people came from everywhere to the crusade last night. Even the government people couldn't figure out where they all came from. It was awesome to see the hunger of the people here for an encounter with God. Idon't think many left disappointed. The crowds responded to the Gospel with joy.
I am sure we will learn that well beyond 100,000 beautiful peoplecame to Jesus in that meeting. Several cripples were healed. One manmute for 26 years began to speak and countless others were healed. Now weare on our way to the "Fire Conference" where the believers are receiving excellent training. Tonight I will speak for the first time. For you it will be at about 11:15am central standard time today. Please be praying. One last thing, I saw a new record number of people on one motorcycle last night. It was a family of 6. There were lot's loaded with 5 people, somecarrying chairs over their heads, but, even by Nigerian standards, I think6 is impressive. Particularly in wild, crazy out of control traffic.

New Photos!!

This is a very poor place. Few people have electricity. In fact, people have very little. There are however countless motorbikes and scooters here. It is common to see a family of four all on one small motorcycle. Their idea of a child seat is a sling over the mothers back.
Straight from the airport we went to the Governers mansion and met with the state government and then not one but two kings. They asked Bonnke to pray over the land and ask God to bless it. They all know how everything changes when the Gospel comes to a city with great power. What an Awesome God we serve.
In a couple of hours the first meeting will begin. I will be speaking on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. At least that is the plan for now. It is seven hours ahead here. The Gospel will normally be being proclaimed at about 11:00 am central time.

Flying to Ole/Ozoro

Dana emailed last night from an airport in Nigeria, to let us know he and Karman were flying to Ole/Ozoro. Dana said that they can literally "feel the prayers". This is where Dana will speak on Thursday night for the first time.
Here is some basic information on the area. Although there isn't a definitive population for Ozoro, it is believed to be the largest single community in Isokoland, both in land mass and population. Ozoro is made up of five Quarters: Uruto, Erovie, Etevie, Urude and Oruamudhu. Erovie quarters is the seat of the traditional ruler called "Ovie." The region is divided into two Local Government Areas, Isoko North (headquartered at Ozoro) and Isoko South (headquartered at Ole).
Isoko region is in the tropical rain forest area of the Niger-delta. The region experiences high rainfall and high humidity most of the year. The climate is equatorial and is marked by two distinct seasons. The Dry and Rainy seasons. The Dry season lasts from about November to April and is significantly marked by the cool "harmarttan" dusty haze from the north-east winds. The Rainy season spans May to October with a brief dry spell in August.
Many natives still worship idols...This is evident in the many ancestral shrines that still dot the Ozoro landscape. A critical appraisal of the belief system of the average Ozoro citizen will reveal a combination of both Christian practices and traditional leanings.

Prayer Guide for Nigeria January 18-25 2009

Karman and I will be leaving for Lagos Nigeria on Sunday Jan. 18. We will arrive on the 19th. The next morning around 6am we will be traveling from Lagos to Ole/Ozoro, two smaller cities in the Niger Delta Region. This is where we meet the crusades leaders, the local government officials and the like. The actual crusade begins on Wednesday Jan. 21 and runs through Sunday the 25th. I don’t yet know which 3 days I will be invited to speak. Please assume that I will be speaking on the 21st. The meetings begin about 6:00 pm and go until after 9:00. There will be music, messages with an alter call and finally, a prayer for the sick. It is normal to see many amazing miracles. I will let you know more about that as it happens.
Here are some specific things to pray for. However, mostly I would ask that you pray in the Spirit and ask God what He would have you pray. I think that will have the greatest impact.
· As I prepare to speak in Nigeria, I would ask you to pray for Gods wisdom and grace as I finalize my messages. I want to share messages that will really touch the Nigerian people.
· Please ask God to grant us smooth travel and good sleep. This trip I will be in the air for more than 45 hours and Karman for 60 hours since she will also be traveling to minister in Turkey.
· Please pray for our protection from those who would oppose our message.
· Please pray that I am able to have great, fantastic, awesome rapport with the Nigerian and Indian people. This is a real key to effective evangelism.
· Pray that we see 1 million or more new believers come to Christ while we are in Nigeria.
· PLEASE PRAY THAT I SPEAK WITH GREAT ANOINTING AND BOLDNESS!!!
· Please pray for our health and strength.
· Please pray that every single person that hears our message would receive it with joy and learn to live in a way that is full of life and greatly honors God.

The Chance of a Lifetime
To my dear praying friends: In the past six months, some really amazing opportunities have arisen and I am hoping that you would consider joining me through your prayers and intercession. In 1981, I gave my life to Jesus Christ at a Campus Crusade for Christ retreat. It was a Sunday morning. The next day, on Monday morning, I was out on the mall at my college, telling people about Jesus. From that moment it has been my greatest passion to share the gospel and lead people into a genuine relationship with Jesus. It’s not hard or scary for me, I love it. About 6 months ago, I began to feel that God was stirring me to begin to do more evangelism ministry. Almost immediately, an opportunity arose for me to preach at two evangelistic festivals in Southern India this February. I jumped at the opportunity. Just as I was organizing that, God brought me a second wonderful opportunity to share the Gospel with the lost. This time in Nigeria. I am on the Board of Directors of Christ for all Nations Ministry. This is the ministry of Reinhard Bonnke. This ministry has seen more than 62 million people come to Christ just since 2000. This last October, Reinhard told me that God had put it on his heart to help me take the next step as an evangelist.
He didn’t know how at the time but promised to pray about it. A couple of weeks later he emailed me from Nigeria and invited me to speak at his crusades in January and March. I will have an opportunity to preach 3 nights each time for about 15 minutes. This is an incredible opportunity to reach hundreds of thousands of people with the Gospel. Reinhard typically draws at least a million people over the course of 5 nights. I am attaching a picture of a typical crowd. It is amazing. I am honestly in awe that God would entrust me with this privilege. With all of that as background, I am asking for those friends of mine that have a heart for the lost and a willingness to pray to join a prayer campaign for me and these upcoming events. It is always prayer that prepares the way for the Gospel. It is prayer that moves the hand of God. It is prayer that can break through traditions, and false religions, and every kind of spiritual stronghold that keeps people from knowing Jesus and giving their lives to him. It is also prayer that sustains the ministers and protects them from the attacks of the enemy. I have learned that without prayer, we lack the grace and the power that only God can give. There are so many beautiful people whose lives are a mess and God has been preparing them to hear the Gospel. For thousands of people, these meetings will be life changing. However, how many people are really touched also depends on prayer. Bonnke often says that bringing the Gospel is like a great twin engine jet plane. One engine is prayer, the other is the preaching of God’s word. It takes both engines fully engaged to really take off and have the full impact. So, do you want to get in on this? I am convinced that this is how we are supposed to work together. Some of us go, some of us pay for it and some of us provide the prayer cover. I am hoping that you will join in the prayer cover piece. Here is what I would ask you to do. Get familiar with the schedule and specific issues as I send them to you. Pray everyday from now all the way through March 16. Email me with any words or thoughts that you feel God would have you share with me to help me prepare for having the greatest possible impact. If you want to join in this mission, please email me back and I will assemble a list of everyone on the team. I will then email you various pieces of information to help you pray in a focused and specific way. During the actual crusades, I will send you reports and photos and updated prayer needs. That’s it. Please pray and see if God stirs your heart to battle for these lost souls in prayer. I expect that we will see amazing things. With love and gratitude, Dana Morey
